Racism a chronic wound that won't be healed - especially - in the United States____!

Since the verdict that shocked everyone I have decided to go back to one of my first passions, WRITING. I decided to start this blog not just in response to some of these reactions to the verdict in the Trayvon Martin case, but also to see if un-commonsense is starting to become common again.

There is a dead African American young man and we are hearing reactions from people of all walks of life; most noteworthy in my opinion are the feelings of many whites in America that have a platform/forum for their opinions to be heard.  These are comments/quotes taken from 'journalist' Richard Cohen, radio personality Rush Limbaugh, defense attorney Mark O'Mara and even juror b37 from the case. Alhough all of these comments are not an indictment of all white people, I have to say I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the best and worst on both sides of the melanin spectrum, it is just a realization of what the reality of this nation/society/world is. There is a dead young man, and these are the responses of fellow human beings in the aftermath of his killer being totally exonerated.

‘I don’t like what George Zimmerman did, and I hate that Trayvon Martin is dead. But I also can understand why Zimmerman...’ Richard Cohen.

But the young man is dead Mr. Cohen, this is all the empathy/sympathy that you could muster for a dead human being. There is seemingly more passion in the tone of your arguement about racism, than in your expression of 'hatred and displeasure'.The writing also makes a bad comparison; you cannot tell someone is from Denmark just by looking at them, but even in the dark you can tell if someone is black, as this case points out.

This is not the stance of a moderate liberal, as you have tried to portray yourself to be, Mr. Cohen. It sounds like a right-wing conservative hiding in sheep’s clothing.

Speaking of the latter, a certain overzealous radio show host could not help himself but come to this conclusion after the case.

'So, "nigga," with an "a" on the end, well I think I can now. Isn't that the point? 'Cause it's not racist. That's the point. I could be talking about a male, a Chinese male, a guy at the Laundromat. ‘Rush Limbaugh.

This is Limbaugh reacting to Rachel Jeantel's interview with Piers Morgan on CNN.

This is where the insult gets added to injury, not just for all of Mr. Trayvon Martin's family, friends and empathizers/sympathizers; but to the entire nation that has to live with one another. When people like Mark O'Mara and juror b37, people who we do not see as the "Rush Limbaugh's" of the world let their prejudiced opinions out after the trial for their own selfish reasons.

"It's a tragedy this happened. But it happened," the juror said."And I think both were responsible for the situation they had gotten themselves into. I think both of them could have walked away. It just didn't happen."
Ma'am the young man was walking away, from the store he just came from.
'I think that things would have been different if George Zimmerman was black for this reason. He never would have been charged with a crime, ' said Mark O'Mara.

Mr. O'Mara as an attorney you can readily get statistics on black on black violence in your state and any other within this country, that is very consoling to the mother and father that lost their child.

In defense of the verdict I have heard all different justifications. The most upsetting, the notion that race played no part in the young man losing his life. Not to mention the subsequent course of action/in-action taken after the fact.

Is it possible for anyone but a white person to be racist in this country?
